Christmas Wreath

To make a unique Christmas wreath, take an old picture frame.  The wide wooden ones work great.  Wrap it with greenery and add a bow.

Curtain Rods – Arched

For arched windows, use flexible PVC pipe as a curtain rod. Add end caps to the ends and let the tension hold it in place.

Sticky Tak on Pictures

Either put masking tape or sticky tak on the back corners of your wall hangings to keep them from tilting.

Makeshift Sideboard

This tip is wonderful for Thanksgiving gatherings or other large events that serve food. I saw this on TV several years ago. A lady with a very small budget and little space needed more room for serving food. She bought 2 large Rubbermaid type trash cans and placed them upside down next to an open wall. She laid a piece of plywood on top to form a sideboard. For depth, there were different height boxes placed on the board and then all of it was covered with decorative linens, ribbons, candles and such. The food was placed on the sideboard at the varying heights. It was a gorgeous site, saved room on the table, and cost her almost nothing.

Tea Stained Cloth
If you have white curtains, doilies, or other fabric items that you would like to be more of a cream color, soak them in strong tea or coffee.

Decorative Lamps
You can turn almost any object into a lamp. Go to a hardware store and purchase a lamp kit. Use the kit with pitchers, teapots, baskets, jars, birdhouses, or almost anything else that matches your decor.

Using Quilts
You can use a quilt as a table covering. I found an older one at an estate sale several years ago. At the time, my house was more in line with shabby chic. It looked great on my kitchen table. Now that it doesn't match, I use it for outdoor dining.

Decorating Tip
Instead of paying a fortune for fresh flowers, pick some wildflowers from the side of a road that does not have a lot of traffic. Right now, even some of the weeds look interesting for arrangements.

Centerpiece Idea
For a small centerpiece, use a variety of stemware (up to 3 pieces) to float individual flowers in. Mums and daisies work well.
